The kind of flooring that you install will be very important and will last a great many years, as long as you install it correctly. Whether you install ceramic tile, travertine, slate, or any other hard flooring in your bathroom, this is really the only kind of material that is acceptable for bathroom floor use.

Installing carpet is most certainly not an efficient or practical idea, since the bathroom floor will be wet at least once or twice a day. Carpet absorbs moisture and it will begin to smell after a while and need to be cleaned.

You can put down rugs over a hard surfaced floor if you want something more comfortable to step on, because these are easily cleaned, but carpet is much more difficult to deal with and will need to be replaced every few years.
