It is interesting to note that "Las Ventas" in Madrid can accommodate 25,000 spectators and is considered to be the most significant bull ring in the world. This building was created in 1929 and the first bull fight apparently took place there in 1931. 'La Maestranza" bull ring, with room for 12,500 spectators, is situated in Seville and this location is believed to draw the attention of Spain's best bull fighters. The bull ring located in Ronda dates back to 1785 and has entertained many, while hosting bull fighting events for over two hundred years.

For those interested, tickets for bull fights may be obtained from the box office at the stadium itself. Tickets can also be arranged by the concierge of many of the top hotels. It is also possible to make reservations online, although there is usually an additional charge. Ticket prices are varied according to the event itself and to the location of the selected seat. It should perhaps be pointed out that the 'seats' refer to space on cement rows, but cushions may be rented inside the bull ring itself. Before purchasing tickets, it is worthwhile noting that the cheapest seats are named 'filas' and these positions offer the worst possible view and are situated in the sun. The best seats are located in the shade (sombra) and this should be taken into consideration by visitors as it can be extremely hot.

Although certainly not a sport for the faint hearted, many tourists enjoy a visit to the bull ring in order to experience this fascinating element of Spanish history and culture. Considered barbaric by some, this form of sport is a part of Spain's history and identity. Bull fighting is an important element of the Spanish fiesta.
