Tips for buying private property in South Africa When you decide to follow the advice of your realtor and financial adviser and invest in property to be used as rental property or to have as a vacation getaway, making the trip to South Africa is well worth it to get the most stunning private property for very low rates. If you truly want the African experience, then make sure you find some for sale by owner properties in the northern parts of the country for easy access to the famous Kruger National Park. These chalet style homes can be bought as time share or you can find private property sales here too. They will probably be situated inside a park of some kind or as part of the nature reserve villas. The houses for sale here will give you the best views of the wildlife and will also give you the satisfaction of knowing everything is safe and guarded all the time. If you prefer the ocean, then along the coasts of South Africa you can find various homes and apartments for sale that are either through a real estate agent or through private means. You can find some stunning ones online in free listings or on other websites that offer to advertise property for very low rates. A house sale or a real estate like a flat or condo is a wonderful step and makes a great investment as long as you are aware of certain rules. In South Africa you must be aware that if you have property to rent you must declare it and pay taxes on it, because in the government’s eyes you are earning an income. This tax will be very minimal and you will be able to make this in no time, especially if you have long term rentals and advertise for families. Real estate agents will also charge a certain percentage of whatever price the property is going for, and this will be added onto the price of the house that you as the buyer will have to be responsible for. Real estate sales have gone up in recent years, but are still fairly cheap for the overseas buyer. With this said, however, it is still recommended that you find a private property for sale. If you go with this, you will also need to use a property lawyer of some kind. This will make the transfer process so much easier and safe for both you and the person selling the real estate. If you are going to just keep the property for your own private use for vacations and the like, then be sure to have someone look after the property for you. If a house stands empty here, it may attract unwanted guests like various spiders, snakes, fleas, and even human ones! Be sure to make friends with your new neighbors. It may be beneficial to think about rental property as a short term solution and this will not only give you some extra income, but your rental agent will be able to check in and look after your home for you while they search for reliable tenants.
