England is one of the most culturally rich and fascinating countries in Europe and makes an ideal destination for all manner of vacation. Manchester as the major city in the north of England is also well worth the journey up country. This modern and vibrant city is full of life and is rapidly becoming a world business centre. For those who wish to add some spice to their vacation Manchester provides excellent nightlife with numerous bars and clubs.

As with most of England there is much history in Manchester; as the world's first industrial city, the role played by the entrepreneurs of Manchester was crucial to industrial revolution, and the industrialisation of the world.

A vacation to England should of course involve a large historical constituent. With so much heritage it is hard to ignore the thousands of sites that offer an insight into the island's turbulent past. With large Roman settlements throughout the country and Hadrian's Wall in the north, those who love the ancient world will be entertained.

Later sites include Norman keeps and castles as well as later developments such as Tudor manor houses. History forms a large part of the English national conscience and this is unsurprising considering the amount of history present in all corners of the country.

England should be a definite consideration for anyone thinking of a vacation. There is little doubt you will return more educated and informed on some of the formative periods in world history. As long as the dreaded rain does not descend the summers in England can be truly amazing; catching a game of cricket during a summer's day is highly advisable to those taking a vacation in England. Overall this culturally rich and vibrant nation will entertain and enthral tourists at every turn.
